Water temps...48-52 & Lake Level 612.46
Bright moon this morning always makes bait tougher to get but it wasn't so bad today. Pulled a dozen or so good fish in the throw net and at least 5 of those were long fish.(over 20 inches) Threw them all back of course.
I did keep 250 good size Threads and Gizzards. Headed way South at daylight looking for birds but didn't see any and didn't stop to fish. Back tracked and dropped an anchor on the river ledge in 45ft water. No fish.
Pulled that anchor pretty quick and started a drift. Had a fish on at once, long one. Did that drift for about an hour and circled around and started over again. Did that routine 3 times. Each drift had fish under the boat the entire time. We would go a couple minutes without a bite, then we would have 3 on at the same time. The bigger the bait, the better.
Had 3 guys, pulled 101 fish, with 32 of those being nice sized Sandies. The rest were Stripers and 34 of those were long fish. We kept some injured long fish and let the bigger ones go. It took a bit to finally catch enough fish under 20 to keep. Very nice. Still no birds working anywhere. Who cares?
Big, lively baits were the key today. Fishing 45ft water and the fish were holding right around the 25ft mark. Going to try and do it again tomorrow. I've got more guys, so I might carry smaller baits to pull in more box fish. I know, good problem to have. These fish are healthy and fat. Now is the time to get on the water and take advantage of these fatter, feeding fish. Great fishing right now, if you don't mind the cold temps. I fish mostly live bait, very user friendly and even the novice fisherman can master these fish pretty quick. December should remain great until the water temps fall into the low/mid 40s.
Call today and get in on this great action before it gets too cold.

Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.
