Hello Fellow Live Music Aficionado Texomans!

Laketexoma.com was hoping to do this coverage of a beloved band in a laid back venue like what you find outside of Austin without the big concert hoopla, in Texomaland, quite a while back. We finally got there. Where?

The venue was the Gar Hole in Anna, Texas, a mere bunny’s hop from Van Alstyne. Mickey and the Motorcars performed. The evening combined all the elements for a perfect early Sunday night round of beers, a great Red Dirt/Alt band with road stories, and a free and easy atmosphere. Spider owns the Gar Hole, so please say “Howdy” to him if you go.

Micky And The Motorcars Review

Laketexoma.com sees Red Dirt music as a timeless genre, and attending a live performance by Micky and the Motorcars at The Gar Hole in Anna, Texas, was a perfect experience. With one of the most iconic bands in Red Dirt, the intimate Gar Hole venue offered an ideal setting to enjoy their rich, sound up close.

For anyone familiar with the magic of an intimate venue, you know how it elevates a band’s connection with their fans. At The Gar Hole, the relaxed vibe let the band perform with an effortless flow, allowing their music to resonate with ease and warmth. The cozy, laid-back environment set the stage for a wonderful evening.

The energy in the venue was electric, yet comfortable, with everyone from the staff to the fans to the band—all on the same wavelength. Micky and the Motorcars delivered a fantastic performance effortlessly while connecting with the audience through fan-favorite songs. They created an atmosphere that felt like a gathering of old friends.

As always, Micky Braun’s songwriting was front and center. His knack for capturing everyday experiences in his lyrics captivates hearts. Or like his story between songs about a $19.25 motel room with a 75-cent vibrating bed that drew laughter and connection from the crowd, making their music most relatable and memorable.

It’s clear that Micky and the Motorcars love what they do, and this passion shines through in every performance. Whether they're headlining a venue or on tour with fellow musicians, their dedication and enjoyment radiate from the stage, making their shows an experience that fans crave.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Mar. 26)

FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 2.96 feet below pool. Striped bass are in their spawning mindset and becoming more difficult to locate big fish. Live bait on deep flats and ledges near the big mineral arm and near the bridges. Swimbaits will work shallow in creeks and on points for bigger fish that will not leave the lake to spawn. Catfishing will pick up with the rain and inflow. Look for fish shallow near the rivers and on deep flats near marinas. Large hooks with several small shad or score a big gizzard shad and fish them on the bottom. Suspended bass are in marinas near docks and in the backs of pockets. Crankbaits and chatterbaits are working along with swimbaits near structure and brush. Water temperatures will hit 60 this week. Crappie can be caught near creeks and coves on brush and structure. Fish will be roaming shallow flats in 8-12 feet of water. Jigs and minnows slip cork fish or use electronics to locate more active fish. Report by Jacob Orr, Lake Texoma, Guaranteed Guide Service. Striped bass have been a challenge in deep water on Alabama rigs, swimbaits and bait. Warmer days will push fish to shallower water and structure. There are tons of baitfish throughout the lake. Stipers are in the middle of the spawning season, so this can slow the bite but the bite will be aggressive as fish spawn out. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
