Lake Texoma Restaurants Reopen

February has been an exciting month for food lovers around Lake Texoma. Early in the month Pelican’s Landing at Cedar Mills Marina opened up just in time for Valentine’s Day. Closed by the 2015 floods, the restaurant has been completely rebuilt and is ready to serve up it’s delicious food. Their new hours will be Thursdays from 4 pm to 9 pm; Friday from 11 am to 9 pm; Saturday from 8 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 8 am to 8 pm.

Poppy’s at the Point at Grandpappy Point Resort Marina reopened this week, on February 18th. Poppy’s took over management of the Point Bar and Grill just before the 2015 floods. Before they could really get settled in the rains came and they moved everything up the hill to the Pavilion. Now the full service restaurant and bar has been completely refurbished and they are all ready to start serving up delicious appetizers, salads, wings, burgers and sandwiches. Their hours are Thursday from 4:30 pm to 8 pm; Friday 11:30 am – 10 pm; Saturday from 11:30 am to 11 pm and Sunday from 11:30 am to 7 pm.

Both of these fine restaurants have been missed and we are glad to see them open once again. Accessible by boat or by land, you can relax with beautiful views of Lake Texoma while you dine.

On land, a new restaurant, 2 Amigos has opened at Tanglewood Crossing at the entrance to Tanglewood Resort and Conference Center in Pottsboro. Rave reviews from everyone who has tried this delightful Mexican Restaurant. If you are in a rush, 2 Amigos has a drive thru window for takeout.

Also located in Tanglewood Crossing, Beaches and Cream is open with their ice cream flavor of the week. Haven’t tried the Bacon Jalapeño Country Vanilla flavor yet, but if it has bacon it is has to be good! Everything on this menu is yummy whether it has bacon or not.

In downtown Pottsboro another landmark, Roma’s, celebrated their 11th anniversary in February.  One bite of their fabulous Italian faire and you will know why they have been open so long.  This family owned restaurant puts their heart and soul into everything they serve.

The next time you head to Lake Texoma, be sure to bring your appetite and try some of these new eateries and old favorites.

Lake Texoma

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 9)

FAIR. Water stained; 60 degrees; 2.12 feet below pool. Striper fishing is about to break loose on live bait as we get closer to the shad spawn and the water temps hitting 60. Plenty of fish being caught on flats and ledges in 25-45 feet of water, bigger fish will hopefully finish their spawn this weekend with the full moon. Find dirty warmer water near the ends of the lake and look at points in shallow water for spawning fish. Look for crappie in the creeks with inflow and watch the rising water temps this week. Fish will be on shallow flats and points near spawning areas, jigs and minnows are productive. Dark colors in muddy water, light colors near docks and structure in clear water. Catfishing is up and down with the weather and lake levels. Fish flats off of the river channels in 25-45 feet of water with whole shad or rough fish. Largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing is picking up. Look for brush and structure near docks and marinas, fish will be staged up and reactive to hard baits or plastics. Water temperatures will climb quickly this week as we get near the full moon and warmer days. Report by Jacob Orr, Lake Texoma, Guaranteed Guide Service. The lake is on the rise, so navigate with caution watching for floating debris. Striped bass are good with swimbaits on structure in 3-25 feet of water. When birds are active, cast swimbaits into the schooling stripers beneath in 30-70 feet of water. The slab bite will start soon. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
